04 / BUILDING USEFUL THINGS

Real problems. Personal projects.

I use Cursor and ChatGPT to help build and refine practical web applications. I define the problem, shape the workflows, test the results and improve them through use.

01PERSONAL ORGANISATION

My Meds

Problem
While my father was receiving end-of-life care, I needed a clearer way to manage medication schedules and record notes and seizures.
What I built
A web app bringing those schedules and records together, developed and refined with AI assistance.
Result
A friend also began using it. The project now has its own domain, and I’m continuing to develop it for wider use.

02SEARCH & SHARING

Karaoke Songbook

Problem
My karaoke collection would have needed more than 600 printed pages, making songs difficult to find.
What I built
A searchable web app that imports the machine’s songbook.txt file, with song baskets and sharing by email or WhatsApp.
Result
Friends can find songs and send me their selections without working through a printed songbook.

03GAME WORKFLOWS

Payday Banking

Problem
Long games of Payday kept running the physical bank out of money.
What I built
An online bank tracking player balances, the jackpot, bills, loans, deals, buyers and payday transactions.
Result
We can manage the game’s money digitally without being limited by the supply of physical notes.

04API INTEGRATION

Solar Brain

Problem
I wanted to assess whether my solar battery needed overnight charging based on the next day’s weather and expected generation.
What I built
A personal decision-support app combining weather API data with the SolaX API.
Result
Separate data sources come together to help me make an informed overnight charging decision.

05 / BEYOND THE DAY JOB

A creative side, with a community purpose.

The Charity Players

I manage the website and digital content for our Northampton amateur theatre group, creating production content, posters and Facebook advertising, and working on SEO and the group’s online presence.

It’s another way I put practical technology and communication skills to use, helping people find productions and supporting the group’s fundraising work.
